Northwest Missouri State University is a state-assisted, four-year regional university that offers 127 undergraduate and 40 graduate degree programs, serving a student population of around 7,000 from northwest Missouri and the surrounding region. The Northwest Missouri State University main campus is 380 acres, home to over 1700 trees, and serves as Missouri’s State Arboretum.

The Tree Resource Improvement Maintenance (TRIM Grant) has been awarded to Northwest every year since 2016, home of the Missouri Arboretum, an outdoor classroom that promotes a greater understanding and appreciation of botanical diversity.
Northwest has received over $10,000 from the Missouri Department of Conservation to remove hazardous trees and expand The Missouri Arboretum's tree inventory with new plantings at The Dean L. Hubbard Center of Innovation.
